「英中对照」美国俄勒冈州尤金市原SK海力士半导体晶圆厂(含17万平方英尺洁净室空间)挂牌出售
Former SK hynix semiconductor fab with 170,000 sqft of cleanroom space hits the market in Oregon
A former semiconductor fabrication facility in Eugene, Oregon, has been listed for sale, offering potential buyers approximately 170,000 sqft of cleanroom production space alongside existing manufacturing infrastructure.
The site, at 1830 Willow Creek Circle in west Eugene, was originally built for South Korean semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix and opened in 1998.
The wider campus comprises approximately 1.2 million sqft of building space across nearly 200 acres.
According to semiconductor real estate specialist ATREG, which is marketing the facility, the site includes a primary cleanroom area of approximately 120,000 sqft in a ballroom configuration, with a further 50,000 sqft of potential cleanroom production space.
The facility was designed for 200 mm wafer manufacturing, with cleanroom, process and utility infrastructure intended to support semiconductor production.
The site also has a central utility plant and installed power, water and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) infrastructure.
Existing infrastructure for semiconductor manufacturing
The property is being marketed to manufacturers who are seeking to establish or expand production capacity without starting with a new-build facility.
Aside from the existing cleanroom space, around 10% of the US semiconductor workforce is already located in the Eugene area where the fab is located.
The site's existing infrastructure was originally developed to support 200 mm wafer manufacturing, although the equipment and modifications required for a new occupant would depend on its intended production processes.
History of the SK hynix fab
SK hynix announced the closure of its Eugene fabrication plant in July 2008, citing weak memory-market conditions and the industry's transition towards newer manufacturing technologies.
Production was scheduled to stop by the end of September that year.
The property was subsequently acquired by Ohio-based digital display manufacturer Stratacache in 2020.
The company had planned to redevelop the site for micro-LED manufacturing, with its Chief Executive describing renovation work and plans to introduce pilot-line equipment in 2025.
