「英中对照」美国生物制造企业Electron Bio推出面向先进疗法GMP生产的FAST GMP模块化洁净室平台

US biomanufacturing company Electron Bio has launched a modular cleanroom platform designed to provide GMP manufacturing capacity for advanced therapies.

FAST GMP comprises reconfigurable cleanroom pods designed for cGMP operations. 

The company said the pods can be installed in existing laboratory, warehouse or shell space, with installation taking one to two weeks on a prepared site.

Electron Bio has designed the platform for US cGMP requirements and EU GMP Annex 1. 

It is intended to support manufacturing processes including antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), messenger RNA (mRNA), lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), gene editing, viral vectors and cell therapies.

The company said a qualified suite can be delivered within three to six months, compared with an estimated 18 to 24 months for a conventional stick-built GMP suite.

Electron Bio has partnered with project and construction management firm Allyant to provide procurement and local build expertise for the pods. 

Electron Bio said it conceived and designed the FAST GMP platform and will lead its commercialisation.

The company is now accepting orders, with engagements contracted and delivered through Electron Bio.

GMP quality system

Alongside the cleanroom platform, Electron Bio has launched FAST QMS, a GMP quality management system comprising procedures written specifically for the pods.

FAST QMS can be supplied alongside FAST GMP or as a standalone service.

Electron Bio is also offering CMC services, with senior operators providing support as a plug-in CMC division through first-in-human development.

The company is developing Cerebex OS, an artificial intelligence operating system intended to support the pod and its quality system. 

Electron Bio said the system will have a qualified person approving each record.

The launch comes as manufacturers face increasing demand for early compliant production capacity for individualised and ultra-rare therapies.

Electron Bio cited the FDA's Plausible Mechanism Framework, announced in February 2026, as a development that could shorten the clinical pathway for these therapies while increasing the manufacturing burden on sponsors.

Jason Murphy, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Electron Bio, said the company had developed FAST GMP to address the time required to establish bespoke manufacturing facilities for individual programmes.

“The industry builds a custom facility for every program, and programs wait on buildings,” he said.

Pankaj Khanna, Principal and Co-founder of Allyant, said the company would support the procurement, construction and testing of the pods through a repeatable process.

Electron Bio will showcase the platform at the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mesa in Phoenix, taking place from 5 to 7 October, and AMM ASCENT in Coronado, California, from 28 to 30 October.
